Emilia Romagna Region, Italy

RER is one of Italy’s leading regions in terms of per capita income and for many years has been classified as one of the richest regions in Europe.
RER ranks first in Italy and third in Europe for the quality of its healthcare services provided by the Regional Health System.

Within the Regional Health System, the Public Health Department has the goal of preventing public illnesses due to environmental as well as occupational exposure. It also promotes a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent chronic diseases related to well-known determinants such as smoking habits, alcohol consumption, nutrition and physical activity in different settings.

The Public Health Department is composed of different units: Workplace Health Protection Area deals with occupational health prevention and coordinates the local Occupational Health Services of the Regional Health System giving directions and strategies in managing and reducing all the risks present in the workplaces as well as the consequences on public health, is one of these.

Occupational physician; she’s been working in the RER - Workplace Health Protection Area since 2012 and has become Executive in 2021. She has experience in many occupational prevention fields as well as in the promotion of healthy lifestyles in occupational settings, leading many different projects on alcohol and smoking prevention in workers, preventive cancers campaigns and vaccination campaigns.

Mara Bernardini

Is a Medical Doctor, PhD; she is Executive of the work area “Innovation in health services”, General Directorate of Health and Social Services, Emilia-Romagna Region, Italy. She coordinates and manages multidisciplinary and multi-professional research projects oriented toward healthcare innovation, impact evaluation of technological and organizational innovations and monitoring of population health status, health determinants, health service utilization profile and quality improvements.

Elena Berti

Is an occupational physician; she’s been working in the Workplace Health Protection Area since 2021. Dr Cella's main research and clinical interests are in health prevention and promotion in the workplace. Since 2021 she has been the project leader of the regional Workplace Health Promotion Program, involving more than 100 companies all around the Emilia-Romagna region.

Maria Teresa Cella

Is a Doctor in Law; she’s been working in the Health Service Research Administration for a long time.

Cristina Predieri

Is an occupational physician, with a PhD in Occupational Medicine and Public Health; she’s been working in the Workplace Health Protection Area since 2023. She is the project leader of the regional Program on Prevention of Occupational Cancers, musculoskeletal diseases and work-related stress disorders and she is the regional coordinator for the Regional Database System for occupational accidents and occupational diseases.

Francesca Zanardi

Is an occupational physician; she’s been working in the Workplace Health Protection Area since 2021, she is one of the coordinators of the regional Occupational Prevention Program in the School setting.

Angela Camagni

Is an occupational physician; he’s been working in the Workplace Health Protection Area since 2023.
