Onconauti – Bologna, Italy

Onconauti is a pioneering non-profit organization based in Bologna, committed to transforming the experience of life with and after cancer. Since 2011, it has been offering innovative, evidence-based rehabilitation pathways that address not only the physical, but also the emotional, psychological, and social dimensions of survivorship. The organization operates throughout all phases of the oncological journey—from diagnosis to active treatment and long-term follow-up—and plays a key role in tertiary prevention, aiming to reduce relapses and manage long-term treatment effects.

It collaborates with hospitals, universities, and public institutions, and has developed impactful projects that combine scientific research with personalized care pathways tailored to the specific needs of each individual. Its multidisciplinary team—comprising oncologists, psychologists, physiotherapists, nutritionists, and mindfulness experts—is deeply committed to empowering survivors, reducing the long-term effects of cancer, fostering social reintegration, and supporting return-to-work programs that promote autonomy and full social participation.
Active in seven Italian regions, Onconauti ensures widespread access to its services and promotes a holistic model of care throughout the entire cancer continuum. With a strong focus on innovation, inclusion, and human dignity, it stands today as a national benchmark for sustainable survivorship and for a future in which surviving cancer means regaining autonomy, wellbeing, and purpose.
