Heidelberg University Hospital is part of one of the oldest comprehensive universities in the world, founded in 1386. Its Department of General Practice and Health Services Research conducts a large teaching and research program, which focuses on primary care and allied health professions. It coordinates a unique master of science program for health services research and implementation science for the medical faculty of Heidelberg University.
Michel Wensing is a social scientist with an interest in healthcare practice, particularly primary care. Since 2015, he is professor and head of the master of science programme for health services research and implementation science at Heidelberg University, Germany. He is embedded in the Department of General Practice and Health Services Research at Heidelberg University Hospital. His work focuses on the organization and delivery of healthcare, strategies and concepts of implementation, and patients’ perspectives on healthcare. He is the editor of the journal Implementation Science since its launch in 2006. After graduating in sociology (1991), he focused on health research (Doctorate 1997, Habilitation 2010). This has resulted in many scientific publications that are highly cited, educational books, as well as many supervised doctoral theses.
